Popular goody bag prize – After receiving one of these to brighten his day and as a “time passer” when he was ill, one of my grandkids remarked it was worth being sick this time because he got a slinky. One of the adults at a birthday party when they were included in goody bags remarked “it’s a real slinky”! She got the extra bag because she was so impressed and excited. 🙂

It’s a Slinky, But Not What I Remember – What can I say, it’s a Slinky. It looks and sounds like what I remember from my childhood, but there’s just something different about it. Like maybe the spring is stiffer? It doesn’t really “walk down stairs” anymore. I thought maybe they just needed to be broken in, so I took one, held it outstretched by the ends and swung it up and down, hoping to loosen up the spring a bit. I ended up over-bending it on one end, and now it won’t go back to normal, so obviously that wasn’t the solution. Ultimately, they’re only a few bucks each, and they’re still a spring made of flattened steel. Maybe they just need some play time to loosen up and work the way I remember them working. Worth a 4 Star rating when taking price and nostalgia into consideration.

Didn’t work for novices – Over many, many years I have seen Slinkies advertised as fun toys. For the first time, I purchased three. Somehow neither I, nor my son-in-law, nor my grandson could get any of them to walk down our steps. It could be that we need to watch the video instructions again.

Attached this to bird feeder. Works great for keeping squirrels off. – Rusted. Of course I’m not using it as intended.

Fond Memories – It’s just like I remember. Still fun at 66! These will make great stocking stuffers. They may be a tad shorter than when I was a kid…..maybe that’s why folks are having problems getting it to walk down steps. Still a classic.
