Perfect Recital Gift – I bought this as a gift for my daughter’s first recital. Their dance was “The Swan” so it was perfect! She plays with it all the time.

Age Appropriate – Bought this with some books as a ballet recital gift for my granddaughter and it was a hit. She is five and I wasn’t sure if she would be too old for it but she actually enjoyed it quite a bit. It has many pieces, some of them quite small which could pose a choking hazard for a younger child. Good quality, fun creative play value. Bonus, the board slides on forming a top unlike many open Melissa and Doug play sets. Sound purchase.

Beautiful and sturdy! – Child uses the pony right on the wooden lid. No need for plastic base. Stands up best on a hard table top, but if using anywhere else, I would keep it on the lid. I would never recommend getting one of these sets that did not have a lid. How shortsighted that design was. Pieces go missing everywhere…OR… you end up having to buy a separate storage container for every set you get. The only exception is Santa Claus. He is in a tray with no lid, but is such a fun, whimsical toy for Christmastime I relented and bought a shallow storage bin for just that set.
